Acton Toyota Sponsors And Competes In The Appleman Triathlon

This Sunday, July 18th at Long Lake in Littleton, MA triathletes will test their mental and physical toughness by competing in the Appleman Triathlon.

The Appleman Triathlon is a "sprint triathlon" consisting of a .5 mile swim, 10 mile bike, and 3 mile run.  It is classified as a sprint as its distances are the shortest for a triathlon.  However, the "short" distance certainly doesn't mean it will be easy.

Acton Toyota of Littleton is proud to again sponsor the event.  This year, however, the dealership will have a number of its employees enter the race as competitors in the triathlon.  In total, Acton Toyota has 5 individuals who've agreed to endure the .5 mile swim, wrestle the 10 mile bike, and gut out the 3 mile run.

Acton Toyota's competitors in the Appleman include:

Joe Tosi- This will be Joe's first triathlon, however, he is in excellent shape.  Over the past 7 months Joe has committed himself to physical fitness and has lost 40+ pounds.  Ultimately, Joe plans to complete a marathon.

Dave Anderson- While this will also be Dave's first triathlon, he is well prepared thanks to the exceptional coaching of his son.  Dave's son is an avid triathlete having completed an Ironman.  The Ironman is a grueling 2.4 mile swim, 100 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run.

Judy Rundlett- Judy can also proudly call herself an Ironman or more appropriates "Ironwoman."  Judy competed in the Appleman last year and this year will enter as part of a team completing the bike portion of the race.

Shawnee Wandless- An avid runner, Shawnee will compete in the Appleman with Ben Koller as his teammate.  Shawnee will complete the run discipline of the triathlon.  Currently, Shawnee is closely following the Tour de France and intends to take up road cycling shortly.

Ben Koller- Ben has teamed up with Shawnee and will complete the swim and bike legs of the triathlon.  Ben has competed in a number of sprint triathlons before and earlier this summer completed a one day 190 mile bike ride as part of the Brevet series.

Mike Hills- Over the past year Mike has recommitted himself to his overall physical fitness and health.  A sudden, but treated case of temporal arteritis will prevent Mike from competing in the Appleman.  Mike was to team up with Shawnee and Ben and complete the bike portion of the triathlon.  Mike had even recently purchased a new bike for the race.
